Our Church History
Our church began as a mission in June 1940. On August 20, 1940 the congregation was organized and the name Redeemer Lutheran Church was adopted. There were eight charter members.
Services were held in the Christian Church until 1941 when lots on 9th and G Streets were purchased and the house previously standing was used as a church until July 1940 when a basement was built. Worship services were held there until ground was broken for the sanctuary building on March 9, 1958. A formal dedication was held on November 23, 1958. On June 18, 2000 another ground breaking took place for the expansion of the church which included a fellowship hall and more classrooms. The formal dedication for the new edition was held on April 22, 2001. Several pastors have served Redeemer Lutheran Church. Our present pastor, the Rev. David W. Palomaki was installed on July 12, 1987. He also serves our sister church, Immanuel Lutheran Church, in rural Rising City, NE.
Our present 2011 church family has approximately 348 members.
